s5773 An important Cotswold School quarter-sawn oak wardrobe, two doors with bowed chamfered panels, chip carved 'nip' handles, chip carved straps and central stay, hand-cut hinges, above two drawers with chip carved D handles, within a chamfered frame, on carved stepped sledge feet, exposed dovetails and exposed wedge tenons to the sides, exposed chamfered protruding tenons to the feet, chip carved 'nip' latch handle, the interior being cedar lined, carved door latch and beading stop for the doors, after a design by Ernest Gimson, designed and made by Peter Waals in his workshop in Chalford, Gloucester, circa 1924, see The Studio 1924 for similar, 183cm (72in) high, 124cm (49in) wide, 53cm (21in) deep.

 

 

     

 

 

Srbp771 A fine oak Arts & Crafts hall robe inlaid with various woods and with brass handles, in the manner of M H Baillie Scott, by Shapland & Petter, circa 1900, 198cm (78in) high, 142cm (56in) max wide, 53cm (21in) max deep.

 

 

s5668 A small proportioned limed oak dressing chest with mirror, with chamfered edges and turned ebony handles to three graduated drawers, by Heals, labelled, circa 1925, 84cm (33in) high [145cm, 57in max], 66cm (30in) wide, 49cm (19.5in) deep. Sold

 

 

     

 

s5571 A fine Cotswold two-door wardrobe in quarter-sawn oak with eight chamfered and raised panels to the doors and chamfered and shaped apron, wedge tenons to the sides and octagonal, carved handles  the back is in chestnut. Internally there are adjustable chestnut shelves on the right hand side and hanging space on the left and the hinges are hand cut, Attributed maker - Peter Waals, circa 1925. 172cm (67.75in) high 126cm (49.5in) wide, 48cm (19in)deep.

 

s5724c A limed oak dressing table with three drawers and mirror and with stepped and moulded edges, labelled Heals, circa 1925, 141cm (55.5in) high, 76cm (30in) wide, 47cm (18.5in) deep.
   

 

 

s5699 A very fine Cotswold cherrywood two door cabinet, two doors above four drawers, with stepped chamfered panels to the doors, with cross banding in ebony and walnut, with chamfered carved walnut handles and exposed dovetail construction to the chamfered base, labelled Gordon Russell and dated 27/3/29. Originally commissioned by the Ansell family.
 

 

s5631 An oak Cotswold single door wardrobe/hall cupboard with panelled cantilevered corners, stepped fielded panels in quarter sawn oak and carved walnut handle, labelled 'Sillabear' 1930, 183cm (72in) high, 107cm (42in) wide, 46cm (18in) deep.

 

 

 

4844srms A fine, important Glasgow satin birch, trapezium-shaped wardrobe/cupboard with inlaid ebony chevrons surrounding the leaded glazed doors of stylised tree pattern inset with coloured glass, mahogany and steel. Hinges and handles in hammered steel, Inside, a shelf above hanging rail with original hooks and drawer with inset kidney-shaped grip handles (top board and feet reinstated), labelled to back George Walton, circa 1900, 196cm (77in) high, 142cm (56in) wide, 58cm (23in) deep

5288 An oak compendium of wardrobe, chest of drawers and bookcase, the wardrobe door with three raised fielded panels above smaller drawer, the chest with four graduated drawers with carved octagonal handles with exposed dovetails and wedged tenons to the sides, designed by Peter Waals as Head of Furniture at Loughborough College and made by students under his supervision for Hazelrigg Hall, circa 1935. 206cm (81in) high, 148cm (58.5in) wide, 59cm (23in) deep.

 

 

 

s5201 A bowfronted sycamore two door wardrobe, with cross-grained veneered panels, reeded edges to front and back, dowel construction, sycamore interior, constructed in two sections. Designed by Betty Joel of Token Workshops, circa 1935, 183cm (72in) high, 152cm (60in) wide, 61cm (24in) max depth. Sold
