EDWARD MIDDLETON BARRY RA 1830 - 1880 
(attributed to)

1. A pair of views in the Rothschild style; architect’s perspective views for a mansion at Berry Hill, Taplow, Buckinghamshire, designed for John Noble Esq. South West & North East aspects c1870, each 16in high 29in wide.

Note: this mansion was built - but did not survive long; several similar houses in that neighbourhood, including Taplow Court, show the Rothschild influence.

Three cartoons for the Playroom, Canterbury Hospital, Kent:

2. Airship 1937, 17in high 27in wide.

3. Charioteer 1937, 17in high 25.5in wide.

4. Circus Monkeys 1937, 17in high 30in wide.

ROBERT ANNING BELL RA RWS 1863 - 1933

5. Angels with trumpets with Christ in Majesty, a design for a single light window signed, 12.5in high 4.5in wide.

6. Saints, including St Frideswide, St Luke and others, a cartoon for a window in pencil and watercolour, c 1905, 70in high 16in wide.

working 1906 - 1930s, d 1940

7. WWI memorial a 5-light design for St Mark, Harlesden, London exhibited RA 1920, signed. “A thank offering by returned soldiers” largest light 16in high 2.25in wide.
Note: this window was never made; but a 3-light window by Bewsey on the South side of the church exists.

8. Virgin and Child, a 3-light design for the east window, Guildford School Chapel, West Australia, signed, each light 11in high 2.5in wide.

9. Flying Dutchman c1914, 33in high 38in wide.

10. Tournament c1914, 33in high 38in wide.

Two cartoons for windows in Midfield (now a school), Midlothian; architect Robert Lorimer. Son of the founder of the Camm studio in Smethwick, near Birmingham, Walter Camm’s work epitomises the Arts & Crafts style.

11. Quarry patterns, a cartoon for Chepstow 1933, 13in high 21in wide; provenance Farrar Bell family.

12. Sir Philip Sidney, a 3-light window design for Ridley College, Canada, 10in high 3.5in wide.

13. Saints Katharina, Helena, Cecilia, a 3-light window design, overall 3in high 4.5in wide.

14. Little St Hugh of Lincoln, window “at Windsor” a cartoon of the famous boy martyr - showing Lincoln Cathedral, 35in high 12 in wide.

15. Architectural design for a screen, signed and dated 1961, 6in high 9in wide.

16. “Forgive them…”, a design for window c1960, 13in high 3.5in wide.

KATHARINE MAUDE COGGIN working in the 1890s

17. A design for a cup in silver. Reproduced in Studio Volume 14, p263, August 1898, 17in high 11in wide.

18. Design for cup in silver; both signed and stamped ESK, 17in high 10in wide (exhibited South Kensington).

WALTER CRANE RWS 1845 - 1915

19. Nuremberg, a costume design, signed with pictogram, for Beauty’s Awakening - the Art Workers Guild pageant of 1899 12in high x 10in wide - offered with a copy of the book, a special number of The Studio.

LOUIS B DAVIS 1851 - 1941

20. St George, a 3-light window in St George, Foxley, Wiltshire; signed with monogram, overall 7.5in high 4.5in wide.
Note: Louis B Davis was a most successful and influential stained-glass artist of the Arts & Crafts movement and much in demand in both England and Scotland, where he was Lorimer’s favoured artist - hence his many Scottish windows .
