Study for 3 Eggs
& Chinese Spoons 32 x 40cm Graphite 2006
My reason and need for drawing is primarily to be in direct contact with physical space.
It is the definition and the discovery of this space which interests me.
Drawing is not to depict the objects around me but to put order into the space in which they exist. The objects themselves are simply an aid to create that order. This can only be achieved if the very space considered is first broken down and then reconstructed.
Once order is found the calmness takes over.
Exhibited: December 2006 New English Art Club Annual Open Exhibition, Mall Galleries, London.
