March 2009 we exhibited a selection of Arts & Crafts furniture
designed
by some of the most influential craftsmen of the period including:

s4844 GEORGE WALTON A fine, important
Glasgow satin birch, trapezium-shaped wardrobe with inlaid ebony chevrons
surrounding the leaded glazed doors of stylised tree pattern inset with
coloured glass, mahogany and steel. Hinges and handles in hammered steel,
Inside, a shelf above hanging rail with original hooks and drawer with
inset kidney-shaped grip handles (top board and feet reinstated), labelled
to back George Walton, circa 1900. 77in (196cm) high, 56in (142cm) wide,
23in 958cm) deep. |

STANLEY WEBB DAVIES ACotswold Style oak three section breakfront bookcase on a base with
octagonal bung feet, the two outside sections glazed and the central two
door section having fielded panels with chip carving and enclosing a shelf
and eight drawers, the top frieze with carved geometric decoration, signed
with carved monogram SD (Stanley Webb Davies) and AB, dated 1925.
This is an early piece by
Stanley Davies who trained with Arthur Romney Green before setting up on
his own in the Lake District.

BARNSLEY A rare Cotswold style elm dresser made by Edward Barnsley with
three shelves flanked by two small cupboards with shelves to the
slated top, the base having two drawers above two cupboards with paneled
doors and with exposed tenon construction to the sides. made by Edward
Barnsley in 1962 for a family member and stamped 'Barnsley'. 72in (183cm)
high, 56 (142cm) wide & 18in (45cm) deep. |
