Furniture continued Exhibit 21: The following details and pictures of a rare ‘Owl’ bedroom suite in original unpolished sweet chestnut. The cabinet and bedside cupboards were exhibited at ‘Beauty’s Awakening’, the Centenary Exhibition of the Art Workers’ Guild in Brighton Museum 1984. All except the bedside cupboards are illustrated in ‘Simple Bedroom Furniture’
21.2: A pair of bedside cupboards with extending side flaps and shelf below the cupboard with shaped front with inset wooden turnbuckle latches, numbered 494 to the back, circa 1904. 30ins (77cms) high, 28ins (71cms) wide, 15ins (38cms) deep.
21.3: A chest of drawers with two short above three long graduated drawers with raised, stepped fielded panels and recessed shaped squashed heart handles, circa 1904. 42ins (107cms) high, 42ins (107cms) wide, 20.75ins (53cms) deep.
21.4: A ‘Owl’ cabinet/tallboy comprising two cupboards, the doors with raised roundels with chip carving and inset wooden turnbuckle latches, above two short and three long graduated drawers with raised, stepped fielded panels and recessed shaped squashed heart handles, circa 1904. 60ins (152cms) high, 44ins (112cms) wide, 21ins (53cms) deep.
