Influential graphic designer from the 1960's, this seminal artist's friendship with Ian Dury (writer/performer and innovative rock star) led to visual abstractions encompassing Ian's lyrics.
The exhibition was an installation of paintings, drawings and bronzes with a unique limited edition printed box containing 24 unbound folded pages of images and
Ian Dury verbals. Urban waste, hermits and lizards pervaded the space with hanging, worn jackets overseeing the proceedings.
After art school, Gordon worked with the Austrian ecclesiastical sculptor, Theodor Kern. During the 1950s he was a designer in the plastics industry, leaving this area in 1958 for freelance work. Commissions included the Beatles' White Album. Throughout the 1960s and beyond, friends and contemporaries included Sidney Nolan, Richard Hamilton, Peter Blake and Humphrey Ocean.
