s5005 A rare pair of stepped sycamore chests of drawers with ebony cock-beading and chrome handles by Betty Joel, signed and dates 1935. 99cm (39in) high, 72.5cm (28.5in) wide, 46cm (18in) deep.

s5030 An oak Cotswold style chest of drawers with four drawers and a brushing slide, possibly by Bowmans, circa 1930. 91cm (36in) high, 99cm (39in) wide, 46cm (18in) deep.

 

ERIC SHARPE 1888 - 1966

S4890 A rare Cotswold sweet chestnut pan chest with pollard brown oak chamfered handles exposed dovetail and through tenon construction on chamfered sledge feet, the design is in the manner if Earnest Gimson and made by Eric Sharpe, signed with his monogram, circa 1930. Sharpe worked from 1921 to 29 in Arthur Romney Green's workshop and then had a house and workshop built by his architect friend T Lawrence Dale with whom he collaborated on several large commissions. He visited Sapperton in 1914 & 1916 Sold

Details of the above

 and his admiration for Gimson is clear both from his own handmade furniture and from the chapter he wrote on woodwork for John Farleigh's "15 craftsmen on Their Crafts". It is possible that this piece was made for T Lawrence dale, see Cheltenham Museum for examples of his work and further information on him. 35 ins (89 cm) high, 46 ins (117 cm) wide, 32.5 ins (82.5 cm) deep.

 

S4848 A Cotswold style elm & cedar panelled coffer with dowel construction monogrammed with a cloverleaf motif, Loughborough School mid 20th century. 22.5 ins (57 cm) high, 40 ins (102 cm) wide, 19.5 ins (50 cm) deep. .

S4775 An unusually small Cotswold brown oak pier chest of drawers, possibly by Stanley Webb Davies, circa 1925. 33.75" (86cm) high, 17.25" (44cm) wide & 17.75" (45cm) deep. Sold

 

 

S4384 A well figured pitch pine Gothic Reform chest of drawers with brass handles comprising two short drawers above three long.
