Robert (Mouseman) Thompson (7 May 1876 – 8 December 1955)

Lived and worked in Kilburn North Yorkshire where he set up his furniture making factory in 1919. The story goes that the mouseman motif that he carved on his work arose out of a conversation in which he described himself "as poor as a church mouse".

The firm still produces work today and craftsman each tend to have their own version of the mouse.
