Philip Pank

Philip Pank was born in India in 1933, later attending boarding school in England at the age of 7. Finishing his schooling, he received a place at the prestigious Architectural Association in London, making time in the evenings and at weekends to partake in Short Courses in Life Drawing and Sculpture at Central Saint Martins. Both sets of studies went on to inform one another, culminating in close attention to structure and design in his works.

One of the distinguishing features of Pank's paintings is his rich use of colour and characteristically bold brushstrokes - elements no doubt lingering from his early life in India. It was this that the Millinery Works exhibition, aptly titled "A Passion For Colour" in 2006, succeeded in communicating.
