A porcelain, turquoise glaze dish

Romilly Graham

rg68

A porcelain, turquoise glaze dish, oxidised rim, signed, 26cms diameter.  I wanted to make a glaze that resembled the colour of a lake I saw in the High Andes called Lago 69 in 1982. It was an unforgettable turquoise blue. To echo the colours of the surrounding mountains reflected in the water, I plunged the dish at a slight angle  into a copper barium glaze which I knew would float on top of the shiny glaze beneath. The force of the air pocket escaping from inside the dish resulted in intriguing shapes hitting the opposite side of the dish.SOLD
