A Charles II scagliola-mounted ebony and ebonized cabinet on stand the scagliola attributed to Diacinto Cawcy circa 1675 with eight two-panel and two one panel doors surrounding a central panelled and carved door. The scagliola panels depict native flowers and birds including the goldfinch, the kingfisher and the hoopoe. The stand is on six turned legs joined by a stretcher and on turned bun feet. Provenance: Miss Fanny Satchell of Sudbury, Middlesex sister of the artist Sarah Satchell (1803-1894) from her to Miss Hannah Finch Hill on her death in March 1917 to Sir Arthur William Hill KCMB FRS FLS Director of Kew Gardens from 1922 until his death in 1941 and thence by descent to the present owners. 163cm (64in) high, 145cm (57in) wide, 50cm (19.5in) deep.
