A set of six ladder-back chairs

A set of six oak high back ladder-back 'Clissett' chairs (one arm, five sides) with dowel construction, chamfered splats and with rush seats, after a design by Ernest Gimson in 1906, made second half of C20th, stamped Neville Neal, arm 115cm (45in) high.  Neville Neal, was taught by Edward Gardiner who was taught by Philip Clissett (1817 - 1913) a 'bodger' and chair maker who taught Ernest Gimson how to make such chairs in 1890.
