The Millinery Works

s6944

Ambrose Heal: an oak chest of drawers, two short, two-handled drawers over three graduated drawers, each with two panelled and reeded fronts and turned wood handles, moulded top and moulded waist to the frame, on turned legs, joined by stretchers, on pad feet, designed by Ambrose Heal, circa 1910, 107cm (42in) high, 84cm (33in) wide, 48cm (19in) deep. There are a number of early Ambrose Heal designs based on C18th cupboard or chests of drawers on stands, as these. The legs, feet and handles are as the 'Yattendon' range of bedroom furniture from 1905. See Oliver S Heal 'Sir Ambrose Heal & the Heal Cabinet Factory, 1897 - 1939' pp. 176, 177, 179.
