An important Cotswold School quarter-sawn oak wardrobe, two doors with bowed chamfered panels, chip carved 'nip' handles, chip carved straps and central stay, hand-cut hinges, above two drawers with chip carved D handles, within a chamfered frame, on carved stepped sledge feet, exposed dovetails and exposed wedge tenons to the sides, exposed chamfered protruding tenons to the feet, chip carved 'nip' latch handle, the interior being cedar lined, carved door latch and beading stop for the doors, after a design by Ernest Gimson, designed and made by Peter Waals in his workshop in Chalford, Gloucester, circa 1924, see The Studio 1924 for similar and see identical one illustrated in Design & Industries Association Year Book 1923 - 1924, 183cm (72in) high, 124cm (49in) wide, 53cm (21in) deep.
