Dark Oak Cotswold Desk


ARTHUR ROMNEY GREEN (attributed to) A dark oak Cotswold desk, with one long drawer between two graduated drawers, panelled drawer fronts with fine carved, shaped and chamfered handles, chamfered drawer surrounds, panels to the sides, hinged extending flap supported by hinged brackets, on octagonal chamfered legs with shaped flared feet, on castors, newly re-leathered tooled top, designed by Romney Green, circa 1930, 76cm (30in) high, 139cm (54.75in) wide, 67cm (26.5in) deep, 90cm (35.5in) deep with flap extended. Arthur Romney Green (1872 - 1945) first visited Ernest Gimson's workshop in Sapperton in 1904, opening his own workshop in Christchurch, Hampshire. His apprentices included Eric Sharpe, Stanley Webb Davies and Robin Nance. SOLD
