http://www.millineryworks.co.uk/

S6488

A fine, quarter-sawn oak Cotswold bookcase with central door of raised, fielded, panel flanked by two vertical glazed side doors, the vertical glazing bars against the shelves giving the illusion of astragal glazing, with walnut carved handles and walnut stepped plinth, with exposed dovetails and wedged tenons to the raised fielded panel on the top and alternating decorative dovetails to the top of the raised fielded panel sides, two adjustable shelves either side of a central fixed shelf in the cupboard, with chamfered panelled back to the bookcase, circa 1925, attributed maker Peter Waals after an Ernest Gimson design, 118cm (46.5in) high, 130cm (57.25in) wide, 29cm (11.5in) deep. The unusual arrangement of the glazing bars appears on several of Ernest Gimson's designs in the Cheltenham Museum archives. SOLD
