Unusual Mid-Century Limed Oak Sideboard


An unusual mid-century limed oak sideboard with four doors, each with two coved moulded panels and turned handles, shaped upstand and splayed base, Heal's for Utility Furniture, impressed "Two Cheeses" Utility stamp, circa 1950, 89cm (35in) high, 130cm (55in) wide, 46cm (18in) deep. Utility Furniture Advisory Committee was established in 1942 to cope with shortages of raw materials and rationing, becoming the Utility Design Panel, with Gordon Russell as Chairman, in 1940. It lasted until 1952. SOLD
